The Life of an E-Mail Campaign

5:46 am in Announcements by Jason

For those of you that pay for advertisements, you know that they can be effective, even if for a few short time.  What does a typical burst of traffic look like, anyway?

Here’s a snapshot on a little startup site I am helping out on.  My uncle runs a restaurant and wanted to know exactly how effective his campaigns were.  He had no idea, he was just paying for traffic without measuring it.

This is a very typical chart.

New Feature: Item Conditions

As you already know by now, eBay managed to confuse everyone again … by imposing a deadline to start using Item Conditions.   That, together with the new “Custom Item Specifics,” which is totally different, combined into a big mess.

Don’t worry – we made it SUPER easy for you in the 1PL!  Just go to your Sellebrity home page and click the 1-Page Lister tab.  You may need to ENABLE the 1PL in your Preferences.

New Feature: When Did Customer X First Visit My Listings?

Introducing a sweet new feature! You can now determine the day a customer first visited your eBay listings!

We’ve only been tracking this data since mid-April, with this release. We wanted to have at least a few months of data to make it useful. We now have almost 4 months so we feel it’s good to go.

So for loyal visitors, you may a see a lot of dates around mid-April.

This feature will be particularly useful to those of you who use our goal system. Remember, GOALS ARE BUILT RIGHT INTO YOUR STATS. As you can see in this screenshot, taken from a visitor today (with all identifying info removed), this person first visited in mid-April. The point is, we immediately know how long this person has been coming to our site before upgrading, and we can see it right in their session details.

eBay’s New Item Conditions Requirement

4:11 pm in Features by Jason

Hello everyone,

The hot topic this month is “item conditions,” which eBay is now forcing on some other listings. Please note that The Sellebrity 1-Page Lister does fully support the item conditions and is ready to use at this time.

There are a few caveats to using conditions, and I’d like to go through some of those in this blog article. The first thing you need to know is that not all categories use conditions. One example of this would be capitalized travel, which really doesn’t have a new or used designation.  To see if your category has a Condition, use this table:

http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/news/itemconditionlookup.html

Here are eight of the more popular classifications of eBay uses to designate the condition of applicable products, among hundreds:

  • New
  • New without box
  • New with defects
  • Mfr. refurbished
  • Seller refurbished
  • Used
  • Very Good
  • Good
  • Acceptable
  • For parts or not working

The hard part from the listing service perspective is that we don’t know which conditions apply to your product until we know which category you are using. Therefore we have to wait until you select a category in order to give you all the applicable options.

The bottom line is, just make sure to use the link above to become familiar with what item conditions apply to you and in which categories, and you’ll always be okay. The 1PL will always catch your mistakes, but it has to wait until you do one form submission.

If you have any questions about this please feel free to post in the one-page list or category. Your celebrity ID should work in her blog.

eBay refers to the categories as being “almost done”, but they have been saying this for a long time.  Hang in there.
